The IRS is open, but they’re saying they aren’t 100% after all the chaos of the last month. Let’s be real, even at 100%, they weren’t exactly awesome. They are saying some refunds may be delayed, but the efiling systems are largely automated, so we don’t expect much impact for most clients. Paper returns, amendments, and audits are backlogged quite a bit, and I expect their telephone support will be prompt and stellar as always (LOL!), but as long as their computing systems built by the lowest government bidder don’t crash…
I’ve had a few clients ask me about the Organizers I sent out last week. These are mostly for your reference when gathering your tax documents and we don’t need them back unless you have had major changes from last year and don’t come into our office for an appointment. You know, things like a new job or baby or spouse that we really need to know about 😉
For clients that don’t come into our office, please consider using our SecureFilePro web portal to send us your documents. It’s an encrypted cloud storage system and far more secure than email. US Mail, FedEx, UPS, and fax are also “secure”, or at least safe from cyber hacking.
We are using e-signatures and e-pay through our SecureFilePro Portal again this year. This should make the process of signing signature forms and paying your preparation fees much easier for those of you that “drop-off” your tax returns without actually visiting our office.
If you need any help getting organized or want to make an appointment, please call our office (770-471-3003) or email me, and if you know anyone looking for very experienced tax preparers, please forward our name to them!
