Most of you have already received your second stimulus payment, but if you’re in the unlucky “still waiting” group, here’s the skinny…
Remember when a bunch of people had issues with incorrect bank accounts on the first stimulus, and the IRS eventually (after many weeks) got them worked out after posting incorrect information about your checks going to your tax preparer? Yeah, well, they did it again! Go team IRS!
They are working to correct the problem (again) and have stated that the people still waiting should have their stimulus 2 payments deposited by Feb 1. If you haven’t received either stimulus, or they didn’t pay the full amount you’re eligible for, it should be added to your tax refund this year.
BTW, we need to know the exact amounts you received for both stimulus payments when we file your taxes. The IRS sent all of us a nice letter with the amount, and told us to hang on to it for taxes, but let’s be honest, most of us threw it out. We’re hoping they develop a web page to lookup the amount.
And another thing! If your stimulus didn’t go directly to your bank account, it could come in the mail as a check or a debit card. Don’t throw out that card like all the other junk credit cards you receive in the mail!
We still don’t have an open date for the IRS, but we expect it to be the last week of January. We are currently in the office M-F 9-4 if you have any questions, need help getting organized, or want to make an appointment.
