The IRS opened Monday (1/24/2022), on the date they said they would (gasp!). They say the last day to file personal income tax returns without an extension is April 18th. That means no extended tax season this year (gasp!). So, a “normal” tax season then? Call me a skeptic…
A couple reminders:
We need to know the exact amount of Advances Child Tax Credit (ACTC) you received last year; these were the monthly payments starting in July. We also need to know the exact amount of Stimulus 3 (aka Economic Impact Payment) you received last March. If we file your tax return with a number that doesn’t match the IRS record, your refund will be delayed for months! The IRS is supposedly sending letters to all of us with these numbers, or you can look them up at irs.gov.
We can work with you remotely to file your taxes without an appointment. Just send me an email or call our office if you’re not sure how to start this process. We are scheduling appointments in the office, but I expect preparer schedules to be tight, especially in April. Please schedule soon and try to come in earlier in the season if possible.
As always, we are here to answer any questions you have. Please feel free to email or call us!
