First, some good tax news! Remember the Georgia Tax Rebate of $250-500 last year? There’s going to be a sequel! Actually, a repeat with pretty much the exact same rules:
Everyone who filed a GA Income Tax Return for both 2021 and 2022 is eligible for a $250-$500 refund. You don’t need to do anything. They will add it to your refund (if you’re a late filer), or deposit it to your bank account (if they have it), or mail it to your house. If you didn’t pay GA tax (like most students and retired folks), you don’t get it! Your GA Tax paid is listed on line 16 (page 3) of your Georgia Form 500 (near the back of your Client Copy). There’s a bunch of other caveats because, you know, politicians…
And now for your annual crunch time reminder! If you haven’t already sent us your tax information, we need it ASAP! Tax Day this year is April 18, 2023. That’s less than a month away! We also have limited appointments available in our office, so please schedule ASAP if you want to come in to see us. Alternatively, let me know that you need an extension until October 15. Keep in mind that this extension is time to file, not time to pay, and the IRS will assess interest on any balance due starting April 18.
As always, feel free to call or email me with any questions.
