Happy political season, and may the odds be every in your favor! Regardless of who wins this election, we don’t expect any major changes to the tax code this year (because there’s an election!), but next year will have very dramatic changes unless Congress takes action. I’d say grab some popcorn, but it’s our money, not theirs, they will be fighting over!
If you are still on extension (there’s a bunch of you), time is almost up. October 15 is the due date, and the IRS gets giddy when people miss it. Up until now, they just get to charge 7% or so interest, but after Oct 15, they get to add a hefty failure to file penalty. Yeah, the country is broke and needs the money, but they don’t need YOUR money.
